Budget recommendations bave been made by staff witb the Halton District Scbool Board tbat funding for those ini- tiatives be removed. The administrative direction, wbicb was met witb sadness by trustees, came during the third in a series of budget meetings Monday. The public board is wrestling witb an evolving 2002-03 school-year budget tbat's expected to vastly exceed the pro- jected revenues coming from tbe provin- cial govemment. No firm decision bas been made yet about the tbree elementary sebool pro- grams in question or the others that were talked about Monday. Trustees are reviewing and debating financial projections being made by staff witb a final vote on next year's budget expected by mid-Junc. The proposed budget for 2002-03 is $28 1.4 million, however the general leg- 1islative erants from the Ministry of 1111m quite concerned we may be compromising kids' futures by flot ensuring their stomachs are full."
