"There's been months of plannirfg around this." Kicking off Use promotional campaign, which started yesterday, is 'Oua Easter nonnets are Hard Hats'. Ail DBIA businesses have heen issued plastic hard hats for eiUser Useir staff to wear or put in the window. "We want people to decorate Usem, to have some fun with it," Ms McDonald comînentcd. Further promotions will sce draws for prizes, which will correspond with num- hered rocks dug out of a sandhox, and Mother's Day activities. Weekly advertisements wiil also lie pub- lished to keep people informed of what the re-construction will entail the following week and what Usat means for shoppers. Construction crews started learing up Use Main Stitet sidewalks and curbs, between James and Commercial streets, yesterday. After the existmg sidewalka have been cleared, temporary asphait will be laid to provide a safe walking path for pedeatrians. Overail, the pmject wiIl see a downtown section of road straightened, witb the cre- ation of aeven additional on-stases parking spaces and improved lighting. Construction is expected to take usitil laIe June for completion. "While ail this is happening, it's impor- tant that we keep people coming into the downtown for their shopping," continued Ms McDonald. While construction is ongoing, the Farmers' Market which usually takes over the street on Saturday mominga starting the May long weekend, will lie moved to Use Town Hall parking lot on Brown Street.
