,/Halton police honour oficers and civilfians Long-standing service The Halton Regional Police Service rec- ognized both officers and civilhans who had dedicated a minimum of 20 years to the force at an awards night Iast night . Twelve officers were presented with Police Exemplary Service Medals at the Halton Regional Police Headquarters in Oakville. Thse medals are presented to offi- cers who had completed 20 and 30 years of exemplary service. The Police Exemplary Service Medal (PESM) waa created in 1983 by thse feder- al government in an effort to recognize long and outstanding service in thse police force. Ise medals are presented annually on behalf of thse Govemnor General of Canada. "These awards are a milestone in a mem- ber's career and are of immense signifi- cance within the police service," said Halton Police Chief Ean Algar. "Tonight, Use police officers and civilian members are identified and rewarded for Useir coin- mnitment and dedication to community recognized at banquet service." Nine civilian members of Use Halton Regional Police also received Civilian Service Awards for 20 and 25 years of service. Medals were presented to Sgt. Doug McMillan, Conss. Michael Michalski, Const. Bill McGrath and Sgt. Rod Wilson for 30 years of service. Medals recognlizing 20 years of service were presented to Sgt. Dave Banks, Sgt. Larry Brassard, Sgt. Walt Bucci, Const. Mike Dinomore, Sgt. Kim Duncan, Sgt. AI Frost, Sgt. Scott McLaughlin and Dec. Sgt. Martin Power. The Civilian Service Awards were pre- sented to Ron Dziedzic, Denise Holiand, Diane McEntee and Barbara Gatt for 25 years of service and to Shani Bookbam, Lynda Freeman, Deborah MeComis, Lynn McCuhlougs and Diane Parker for 20 years of service. Police host cultural event is recognition of Use International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, Use Halton Regional Police Service wili host Use Cultuiral Showcase.
