A Public Open House was held on October 18, 2001 at which time the need for improvements was sunimarized, and planning alternatives were assessed. Based on input provided from stakeholders, technical agencies and public participants, as well as on an assessment by the study team, the Region has determined that the preferred solution is the widening of Derry Road from two lanes to four lanes. The study team is currently conductmng an mn-depth review of environmental conditions and is developmng and assessmng various detailed design alternatives. The study is bemng conducted in compliance with Schedule "C" of the Municipal Engmneers Association "Municipal Class Environmental Assessment", (June 2000). A Public Information Centre (PIC) is planned to provide further information to the public and to receive input and feedback on the study to date.
