*OuRR.ADEtw 4No abuse of power with -regard to cîrculated flyer Isays Councillor Challînor tram FLYER on page 6 its debt. Why? The Friends of E.C. Drury is a loosely koit group of ordi- naay people who went to extraordinary lengths to stop a develop- ment that thousands of residents in this community opposed. including me. 1 don't believe they should be in the fmnancial position they are mn. 1 decided to attempt to do something about it. 1 respect the fact that there are some Milton residents who did- n't support the position taken by the Friends of E.C. Drury, the deaf community, the majority of members of Milton council and me regarding the E.C . Drury lands. And, I also understand that, as a consequence. they are choosing flot to make a donation to the Friends of E.C. Drury (E.C. Dntry School for the Deaf School Council - Registered Charity Number 12466 8666 RROOO9) to help retire the debt mncurred. T1hey are free to make that choice. That is their demnocratic right. 1 bear nu iii wiil toward any of them. In closing, there was no "abuse of power." 1 don't have any. There was no "deceiving the public." The public is a lot smarter than that - and so amn 1. To suggest otherwise on both cotmts is laughable. Those who know me well know 1 wiil continue to support those charities' causes and individuals 1 believe in. 1 encourage ail Miltonians to do the samre. For that is our demnocratic right. And, Iast I heard, we stiil live in a demnocracy. John Challinor Hl Town councillor, Word 4 R«S WRJTE P Got an opinion on a local issue? Scott Early Funeral Home "arpersonal & caring service" Are you prepared? Funerals play an important part in the grieving process. It is a way to pay tribute to someone who has lived. A funeral is an opportunity for your family to personally express their feelings about a Ioved one. Prearranging a funeral gives you peace of mind and spares your family the difficulty of making decisions at a stressful and emotional time. Depending on circumstances, there could be a limited timef rame when a death occurs and decisions have to be made. More and more people are deciding to communicate choices surrounding their funeral ahead of time with family. With the help of a Funeral Director, you can choose the options that are best suited for you under more relaxed conditions. Prepaying your funeral expenses is one of the options you may want to consider while making prearrangements. While this option is not a necessity, some find that it further lessens the burden at the time of death and protects against rising costs. Payment plans help to budget this expense and can make prepaying accessible for everyone. The cost of your funeral is established by the services and merchandise that you choose but it costs nothing to plan ahead. The J. Scott Early Funeral Home prides itself on its high standard of service and caring staff. Let us help you "be prepared" and make the choices that are right for you and your family. 21 James St., Milton 905-878-2669& The Canadian Champion, Tuesday, January 29, 2002 -7 :4m roui 9 _V
