This season the local hockey comuniî will enjoy its greatest representation in recent memory within the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). OHL newcomers from îown include Daryl Knowles, Dan Rogers and Chase TrulI. For Miltonians Knowles and Rogers, their recent hockey promotions follow sirong rookie campaigns with the Ontario Provincial Jr. A League's Georgetown Raiders. Knowles - who'll skate with the St. Michaet's Buzzers this year after being picked up by them in the sixth round of the 2000 OHL Entry Draft -spent much of last season on Georgetown's top scoring unit and closed out the year with 45 points. The 17 year-old lefi Winger is currently skating alongside former Merchant Matt Bannan -who was moved up to right wing last year afier spending the bulk of his junior career on defense. Set to, compete with the Owen Sound Platers, Rogers was among the Raiders' top six blueliners over the late stages of the 2000/01 season after missing close to two months with a fractured foot. He finished the year with 20 points, 90 penalty minutes and as an assistant captain.
