By MURRAY TOWNSEND Special ta The Champion I wasn't exactly the Magical Myslery Tour, but the Milton Mystica girls midgel fasîbaîl team did find a roundabout way of winning the consolation champi- onship aI their own toumament last weekend. They opened against the Hamilton Tigers. The Tigers jumped out 10 a first-inning 2-0 lead, but pitch- er Kalie MacKrory kept îhem off the score sheel for the next five innings. The Mysticu gol one mun back in the second when Amee May led off with a double and was broughl home by Alicia Taylor. Ashley Elliot followed that up wiîh anoîher double, but Taylor was îhrown out at home and the rally was stalled. Milton lied il up in the fourth inning, after Sarah Zebmuck led off wiîh a walk, and was sacrificed 10 sec- ond by MacKrory. Tara Elkie followed with a single, and then on a nice bunt by Laura Ann Sheehan the relumn throw from firol was too late 10 catch Zebmuck sliding mbt home. Offense drys up That was ail the offense they could muster, althougb in the ftftb inning, with two base munners aboard, Carolyn Coates blistered a line drive that appeared beaded for extrua bases. The third baseman made a great catch, however, and doubled a runner off at lirst. A couple of outstanding defensive plays kept the score lied through the sixtb inning. One was a snag by Elkie 10 gel 10 a bail going up the middle, finisbed off by Surah Mooney making a big stretch ai first base 10 gel the third out. The other key play was on a baillbit 10 center f'elder May. She made a îhrow ail the way 10 Tasha Leslie at third base to gel an out before the munner could cross Horse show starts Wed.
