A new 450,000-square-foot facility - to be built on Chisholm Drive and operate under the Modatek Systems banner - will manufacture and assemble truck frames and chassis for Daimler Chrysler and other major automotive manufacturers. After months of searching for a site, Magna found Milton best met the company's needs, said Tom Skadutis, executive vice-president, opera- tions for Magna International. "We look forward to an exciting and profitable future with our new manufacturing facility in Milton," he said. "We went through a long and detailed review of available sites and locations for this facility and made our decision, based on all of the advantages that Milton had to offer." Construction details are unknown as the Town is waiting for submission of site and building plans. An excited Mayor Gord Krantz welcomed Modatek Systems to Milton. "Modatek's confidence in Milton confirms what we have been promoting, that Milton is open for business," he said. No further details about the development were available at press time. The new plant, which was expected to be offi- cially announced at town council last night, comes at a time when Milton is experiencing a population boom. The Town has already issued more than 1,000 building permits this year.
