My good friend, Arlene Boisvenue, received this heartwarming story from a work colleague and shared it with me. It touched my heart - 1 trust that it will touch your heart too! Late one evening, a tired father came home from his place of employment. He had worked hard and was exhausted from the pressures of a busy schedule. When he arrived on his doorstep, he found hîs five year old son waiting for him at the door. "Daddy, may 1 ask you a question?" "Sure, son, what is t?" dad exclaimed. How much money do you make an hour?" "That is none of your business, son! That s personal! It s not polite to ask someone how much they make an hour. What makes you ask such a thing?" dad blurted out with irritation in his voice. 1I just want to know. Please tell me, how much do you make an hour?" pleaded the boy. "If you must know, 1 make $2000 an hour" dad announced angrily. "Oh, " the littie boy reflected, bowing his head. His sobriety was only momentary, *BAHAI lm . .Know, verily, that the soul is a sgn of God, a heavenly gem whose reality the most earned of men bath faled to grasp, and whose mystery no mnd, however acute. con ever hope to unravel.« from Bhai! scnpture Sno ail orId5.DB ugeGO Chidre Me. Ntle Rge however, as he suddenly looked up with renewed fervor and petitioned, 'Daddy, may 1 borrow $1000? Please?" The five year old's request infuriated his father who expressed: "If the only reason you want to know how much money I make is so that you can borrow some of it ta buy a silly toy, game or stuffed animal, then that is nonsense! You march yourself straight (o your room, now, and go to bed! I want you to think about why you are being so selfish! I work long, hard hours everyday and do not have time for such trivial things!" The little boy sniffled, yet quietly obeyed and went to his room. After he shut the door, he began to cry. Meanwhile, his dad sat down to a cold dinner and contemplated his sons questioning. He got madder by the moment, musing, 'How dare he ask such questions onîy (o get some money?" After an hour, he calmed down. Now, he thought he may have been too hard on his impressionable son. "Maybe he really needed that $1000. He does not normally ask for money." The little boy sat up, with a beaming smile that stretched from ear to ear. "Oh, thank you daddy!" he yelled and threw his arms around his father. Then, reaching under his pillow, he pulîed out some more crumpled up bills and a handful of coins and began to slowly count out his fortune. His now-exasperated father, seeing that the boy already had money, grumbled, 'Why did you want more money if you already had some?" "Because I didn't have enough . ..but now I do!" the little boy excitedly explained. 'Daddy, I now have $20.00 ... can I buy an hour of your time?" Dad pulled his son close, hugging him tenderly and reaîizing that his small son had just given him a valuable lesson on priorities. "No, son!
