With every- thing that has been going on here at MDHS it's very hard to believe that the school year is almost over. After school on Tuesday, the intramural football games started. On Wednesday, the co-op students hosted their annual Co-op breakfast. The students invited their placement employers to come and enjoy a "thank-you" breakfast. A special thank-you goes out to ail the businesses that supported our students dur- ing their placements. During TAP on Wednesday, members of he Anti-Violence committee returned to the Gr. 9 and 10 classes to present the results of the surveys the younger students filled out in May. This gave the studnets a chance to see how other students in their grade feel about the violence in our school and ideas on how to solve it. On Friday, students will be able to enjoy the "Spring Fling" put on by the committee. Events include a Frisbee competition, a dunk tank, a live band playing, a fash- ion show and ice cream. Thursday evening was the annual athletics Banquet and Dance, where athletes from the various school teams were rec- ognized for their achievements and given awards. The theme this year was Hawaiian, and many students took the opportu- nity to show off ail their bright and wacky Hawaiian clothes. Congratulations to ail the teams for a well-played season. DRURY HI0H SCOOL Joanne Gunding Lindsy Harrold Although it is hard to believe, there are only two and a half weeks of classes remaining until exams begin. The hallways and lockerbay are alive as students make plans for summer and anticipate vacation. This time of year however, is bittersweet for those students in the graduating class. After four or five years at Drury it is difficult to imagine leaving the school. Next year these students will move on to university, college, or work, and everyone will go their separate ways. This is a sad thought for many students who will truly miss the classmates they have spent every day with while in school. There is however, one event that the graduating class bas to look forward Io. That is, of course, the prom. The prom is a much anticipated event for all graduating students. A group of highly dedicated OAC students have worked hard all year on the prom committee to guarantee a special night. This year's dance is to be held at Michelangelo's in Hamilton on Tuesday, June 26th. The hall is beautiful and will look even better when decorated to reflect this year's theme, "A Night at the Oscars." Along with the traditional dinner and dance, the evening will also include the awarding of the Grad Poll Awards. Overall, this night will be one that students will always remem- ber when they think about their time at Drury. In order to make the prom possible, fundraising was an absolute neces- sity. Throughout the year the committee bas run barbecues, set up for vol- leyball tournaments, sold Spartan t-shirts and pants, and sold food on Wednesdays in the locker bay. This past Wednesday however, the prom committee ran an event that truly put the 'fun' back in fundraising. On Wednesday the senior students allowed themselves to be auctioned off lo mise money for the prom. Students from every grade were encouraged to be involved in the bidding, although few could match the $145 paid by a group of grade nine for one OAC. On Thursday the students who had bought seniors made them dress-up and sing karaoke in the lockerbay. A great time was had by the spectators as well as those involved in the auc- tion and the money raised will be put towards decorations for the prom. As the graduating class eagerly awaits prom, and the rest of the school drrams of summer vacation Drury's halls remain lively. With only one and a half weeks until exams it is really important that students also put aside time for studying. Keep that in mind, and have a great weekend.
