This past week has definitely been a newsworthy one at E.C. Drury. This week students proved that flot only are they active and involved in many activities, but they excel a these activities. The Spartans demonstrated tis on the play- ing fields aa many teams aaw action during the làst seven days. Likewise, the drama students put their talent on display at the Sears Drama Festival. Finally, those students whose talents lie in the culi- nary field, demonstrated their excellent skills at the Ultimate Mix Event. Every year before thé May long weekend, E.C. Drury holds the Ultimate Mix Event. The challenge is for students to create an origi- nal, creative, non-alcoholic drink, which will be judgcd on appear- ance, taste, presenlation, originality, and message. Although only two teams participated in this year's event, these students put a lot of time and effort mbt their creations. Both finaliats advanced to the second round of competition which was held in Georgetown on Wednesday. At this competition the teams beard many great commenta about their drinks. What a great chance for some of Drurys alented stu- dents to showcase their skills and have fun too! Later on Wednesday evening, another group of talented Drury stu- dents put on a sbowcase of a different kind. In front of a sold-out bouse at Westdale Colegiate in Hamilton, the cast and crew per- formed their play Conversations with My Neighbours Pit Bull. Once again, this black comedy was performed exceptionally well and won the congratulations of many audience members. This was Drurys first appearance at t he provincial level of the Sears Drama Festival and everyone involved was ecstatic about the pîsys success. Nonetheless, the cast and crew are also excited that the play is over and that they can get back bo their school work, jobs, and friends. Once again, a buge congratulation to the principal actors Noah Hicks, Kabby Farrant, Mary Lillico, and Hemma Phulesar, as well as to the bead technician Brad Goldring, and thedirector Mrs. Roberts. Bravo! Also demonstrating thir ability to excel this weck were the Sparlan athletes. The girls soccer team started the action with a tie on Monday versus the powerhiousc Oakville Trafalgar. This result brings the team to a 2-1-3 regular season record as they head into the play- offs next week. Altbough the boys basehaîl tcam bas played well al season they were unable to beat Bishop Reding on Monday. Facing Loyola on Wednesday however, the boys refused to lose, coming back from a 3-0 deficit 10 tic the game. The team now sits with a 2- 1-I record.
