vAnne Blvd. residents want one sidewalk, not the two By FANNIE SUNSHINE The Champion The majority of residents living on Anne Boulevard are in favour of the installa- tion of one sidewalk on their street as opposed to both sides, town counicillors were told at last week's comnuinity services com- mittee meeting. I don't represent ail of the resi- dents on Anne Boulevard," spokesperson Rev. Rod Lewis told councillors. "There are those who don't agree (with installing sidewalks). At the February meeting (community services commidttee) we had a man- date for no sidewalks. But last night (April 29) we looked at the options and having no sdewalks was not an option. We think two sidewalks is an overkill for that area - we're in favour for one. We're asking you to defeat the motion (put forward by staff for the installation of two sidewalks) and entertain a motion dealing with one sidewalk." At the community services coin- mittee meeting February 26, staff presented a report regarding the approval of thse final design for the reconstruction of Anne Boulevard, Meadowbrook Drive and Robinwood Crescent. Thse proposed design included sidewalks on both sides of Anne Boulevard and Meadowbrook Drive. Concerrus regarding the proposed installation of sidewalks were raised by a delegation of local resi- dents at the meeting. As a result, staff was left to con- sider options. for thse construction of sidewalks and to meet with resi- dents to discuss these options, which they did April111. "We want 10 find a common ground - whatever thse town finds acceptable the residents will deal with it," Rev. Lewis said. Councillors John Challinor and Rick Malboeuf were in favour of the installation of one sidewalk. Mayor Gord Krantz asked if thse residents had a particular side of thse streets in mind to install thse sidewalk. "We have no consensus on the location of the sidewalk," Rev. Lewis said. "We'll leave that up to council. We don't want to start a war with Uic residents on ither side of Uic street by suggesting one side over the other." The recommendation was to he brought before council at last night's meeting. ,,Main St. to be closed for filming Main Street will be closed for the town of Laramie, Wyoming, To wn Hall on Brown Street.
