Royal Report By Mark Laframboise and Ryan Pyne Last Thursday, approximately 750 students showed tremendous school spirit as they travelled to Ivor Wynne Stadium in Hamilton and rooted for the Senior Football Team. The Royals defeated Loyola 7-0 to become Halton Division I Football Champions. Mike Long scored the lone touchdown on a 3-yard run and was involved with 18 tackles. Stefan Linder had a 22- yard punt after the snap flew over his head. Ivan Bosnjak had 4 catches and 2 sacks while Onel Martino rushed for 80 yards in the victory. Jodie St. John also completed 13 passes for 80 yards. It was the perfect end to a stellar season. We wish them the best of luck next year. Last Thursday, the Senior Girls' Basketball team met St. Thomas Aquinas in quaterfinal action. Despite a remarkable effort, the team still could not come out with the win. Amy Prisniak controlled the tempo while Vanessa Bouskill played the best game of her career as a "swan song" to her final game as a Bishop Reding Royal. B.R. will also miss Carolyn Coates who is graduating. The tearn had a tremendous season, and is con- mended for their superior -lay. After a 6-3 record, the Junior Girls' Basketball team ended their season last Tuesday with a loss to St. Thomas Aquinas in quar- terfinal action. Congratulations on all your fine efforts and good luck next year. With the second half of the first semester now beginning, many sports teams are also being formed. GRADE "A" NEWS AT M11ITON BISTRICT 3105 SCR06 Michello Merkley Emily Willoughby DATELINE DRURY AT E.C. DRURY 10 SCEOOL Joanne Gunding Lindsey Harrold Hello again from Dateline Drury! This past week has been an unusually quiet one here as the school. Many students have been given a chance to slow down before the hectic hol- iday season begins. There were however, a few highlights this week: the wrestlers began their quest of OFSAA gold with their first meet of the season, the boys hockey team skated to victory, lots of crafty people visited the annual E.C. Drury Craft Show, and all OAC students attended an in- school workshop on Thursday morning. As the rest of the student body took a short break from their busy extra-curricular schedules, the wrestlers picked up the pace with their first meet of the season on Tuesday. Drury was host to the wrestlers from White Oaks Secondary School. The guys started the season with amazing results. The senior wrestlers won 56 out of their 60 matches, continu- ing last year's winning tradition. The rookies had their first taste of real wrestling and showed promise for a great season. Congratulations guys, you've made Drury proud once again! A different group of guys, the boys hockey team took to the ice on Tuesday against their cross-town rivals Milton District. The Spartans played superbly and beat the Mustangs with a score of 4-1. Way to go Drury! The guys play every Thursday afternoon as Thompson arena so come on out and support our boys hockey team. Crafty people of all ages visited Drury on Saturday to check out the products on sale as the annual Craft Show. The show was a huge success as more than 50 vendors took part. Community members were offered a wide selection of crafts and gifts to choose from. What a great opportunity this was to get a little Christmas shopping done early! As the holidays approach, OAC classes are in the midst of their busiest time of year. On top of this, many students have jobs, hobbies, and volunteer commitments that also place demands on their time. To help the students deal with the stress of their final year as high school, the guidance office organized a workshop for all OAC students on Thursday morning. Tie information received as these sessions covered topics such as time management, stress reduction and finan- cial planning; and wili be of great assistance for all graduat- ing students. Although these activities livened things up a little as Drury this week, in general it was a quiet five days. With the winter sports season upon us and Christmas just around the comer, the next month promises to be filled with a multitude of exciting activities and events! For now, have a safe and happy weekend! It is hard to believe that winter is finally here. With ail the snow making it cold outside we at Milton District have found ways to keep ourselves warm. There is no better way to keep warm than to have an assembly. On Wednesday, November 22, dur- ing first period, the entire school was invited to a recognition assembly. At this assembly there was a fashion show of all of the school clothing for this year which is on sale now. We were dazzled by several articles of clothing including hats, sweat shirts and pants. Following that each team that has been playing was recognized including the junior football, junior boys volleyball and senior girls basketball. It was really good to see everyone out showing their school spirit for the teams. Attention ail students who like to dance. On Thursday, November 30, the first annual school dance is being held. Tickets will be on sale next week. They are $7 if bought before the dance and $8 at the door. It is sure to be a rockin'evening so be sure to get a ticket you won't want to miss out. Also on Thursday is the Boardtopia Fashion Show. This happens every year at our school and is run by Mark Burger, the owner of Boardtopia. This event has Milton District High School stu- dents modeling the latest fashions. Prizes have been given out in the past so get your ticket today. There is also another assembly for anyone who is interested on November 27. The Young Workers Awareness Assembly is going to happen to inform students about the dangers that they could face at work. Don't forget that rings are on sale from Jostens again in case you missed them. Have a safe and happy weekend and see you at the Santa Claus Parade.
