12 - The Canadian Champion, Tuesday, November 14, 2000 /Yahooz offers variety of venues under one roof By LISA CARTWRIGHT The Champion hether people are looking for an upbeat restaurant for dinner or drinks or an energetic night club with live bands or DJs, Yahooz Music Grill on Chisholm Drive is the place to go. "We have a variety of different venues all under one roof," said Mark Cotton, owner of Yahooz. Housed in the old movie theatre, Yahooz is 17,000 square feet of fun. The building has been divided into three sections: a sports bar, night club - called the FX Room at Yahooz - and on the second level, a private mezzanine, or VIP, room that overlooks the lower level. The sports bar bas been open since October 23. The FX Room won't open for another two or three weeks. A 200-seat outdoor patio will open in the spring. Mr. Cotton said Yahooz is a unique experience because people can use both areas during their visit. "Both areas are accessible," Mr. Cotton said. "You can go from room to room." People can have a leisurely dinner at the sports bar, then wander into the FX Room for an evening of dancing, he said. Rustic in appearance, the sports bar has 21 TVs as well as a large screen TV, satellite televi- sion, pool and snooker tables as well as arcade games such as pinball, air hockey and others. Yahooz also features a full menu with items ranging from pizza and pasta to chicken and pork to ribs, steaks and vegetarian. They also have sandwiches and burgers, including their famous 12-ounce burger. There's also a wide selection of desserts. "It's Canadian style with a little bit of a Hungarian touch to the recipes," Mr. Cotton said. Yahooz offers hardy portions of food made right on the premises. "We find most people are taking half their food home," he said. Yatiooz is also open for lunch, offering people a variety of items, fast. The FX Room also has a selection of food including nachos, wings and sandwiches. The staff at Yahooz is enthusiastic, helpful and knowledgeable. It's (Yahooz) easy going and very relaxed."
