Although it's hard to believe, semes- ter one midterms have arrived and report cards will be out next week. Hopefully all Drury students will be pleased with their results! Beyond scholastics, Drury students have been busy with extra-curriculars this week. Highlights include: our first pep rally, boys volleyball, school reach, and two drama productions Wednesday proved to be the most exciting day of the week as our first pep rally was held in the gym. Hosted by the Student Athletic Society (SAS), the event showcased various Drury teams and clubs competing for the 'Spartan Spirit Award'. First place went to Drury's famous OAC wrestlers who made the audience hysterical with their interpretation of a cheer from the movie "Bring it On". The pep rally was a great chance for Grade Nine students to find out what Spartan spirit is all about;' The senior boys volleyball team got off to a rough start this season but was able to pull together in time for playoffs. After los- ing the first six games of the regular season, the boys won the final three games in order to guarantee themselves a playoff-spot. They faced a big team from St. Thomas Aquinas in the first round of playoffs and came back victorious. Second round action placed the boys against the defending provincial champions, The Georgetown Rebels. Although the boys played well they were not able to beat Georgetown and their season came to an end. Congratulations guys for making Drury proud with a great season! The season is just starting for a little group of future Jeopardy players here ai Drury. Open up a book and get studying because it's time for school reach. This 8 person scholastic team is meeting once a week and eagerly awaits their first toumament. Just for a lit- te taste of the kinds of questions these students are faced with, here is a sample. In Melville's "Moby Dick", name the captain who pursues the great whales? If you said Captain Ahab you're right! Good luck to the school reach team at your first tournament, The OAC drama class bas also had a busy week. Drury students got a taste of professional drama on Monday with a performance by The Metapysical Theatre Group organized by students in the drama class. Following the play, students in the class took part in a workshop with the professional actors. What a great start for our week at Drury! The OAC drama class provided the students at Drury with a dramatic presentation on Friday as well. The play was in honour of Remembrance day. Drury's dramatic talent provided moving performances that reminded all students about the impor- tance of November I lth. Many thanks go out to the OAC drama class for making this week special! Dateline Drury signs off for this week. Good Luck with your report cards! Have a super weekend and enjoy your half-day vaca- tion on Monday!
