Bishop Reding's sports season continues to be a success. Tbe Girls' Field Hockey team won 2-0 over T.A. Blakelock last week. Way lo go girls! The Senior Boys Volleyball team lost a bard fought battie against E.C. Drury lasi Tbursday in exhibition action. The Junior Girls' Basketball team put in an excel- lent effort against Lord Elgin, but could not manage to corne away witb a victory in the hard fougbt battle. Good luck in the upcoming regular season. B.R. held the annual Royal Invitational Cross Country Meet at Kelso Conservation Area last Wednesday. Thank you to all staff and students wbo helped make it a great success. The team made B.R. proud witb an excellent showing. Congratulations to Nikki Cowper, Amanda Robicbaud, Fiona Silcock, Mike McGîll, Tim Mohr and John McDougall who were tbe top finishers in tbeir division. Ecc BRUT le SCIGOL Dateline Drury By Joanne Gunding and Lindsey I4arrold This past week has been extremely difficuit one for students and staff ai E.C. Drury High Sehool. Tbree well-known members of our stu- dent body, Mark Everson, Rory Dick and Travis Totb, were killed suddenly in a devastating motor vehicle accident on Thursday September 28tb. These young men will be greatly missed by everyone here at Drury. The three funeral services were held on Monday, October 2nd and were attended by many students wbo offered support to not only the families of Mark, Rory, and Travis, but also to their peers. At a time when a loss of words is not uncom- mon, members of the Drury student body have been able 10 talk about their pain with one another. Grief counisellors were sent by the Halton Board on Friday, September 29th and Monday, October 2nd to help students cope with their feelings. These counisellors offered solace to our school as we dealt with tbe enormity of ibis Ioss. With the help of the counisellors and staff, E.C. Drury's student community bas corne together and demonstrated compassion and comfort for one another during this dark and painful week. In closi ng, the staff and student body would like 10 offer condolences 10 tbe grieving fami- lies. Schoot is once again wrll undrrway, and it ix starting off to be another great yrar. Our senior football tram played their second game last Friday and beat T.A. Blakelock 14-6. Way to go guys! Oue junior football tram also played a gamne on Wednesday against Burlington Central. It was a well fougbt game even though wr endrd up losing 22-6. Speaking of athlrtics on Wrdnesday, September 20 our scbool took part in the second annual Terry Fox Walk. Thanks 10 rvery- one wbo donatrd monry. Wr wr able 10 raise $650.
