Off to New Brunswick Local choir looking for sponsors Buying and mile or more will help send the Milton Youth Chorus on exciting summer exchange program The Milton Youth Chorus, directed by Monette Gould, is planning a summer trip to New Brunswick as part of an excbange programn with the Young Acadian Singera. in order to raise money for the trip, the chorus is aaking local businesses for help via sponsorships. The Milton Youth Chorus bas comne.up -wilh tise 'Buy a Mile' campaign in which Milton businesses can buy as many miles 'as tsey wish for the children on their trav- et of 1,490 miles to New Brunswick and back. Sponsorship opportunities include one mile for $25, 10 miles for $50, 20 miles for $75,'25 miles for $100 and 50 miles for $200. Sponsors acknowledged Though a charitable donation receipt cannot be given for any donations, ail sponsors will be acknowledged in Milton Youth Chorus programas. AMuI 1 4,2000 -19 Flurry of awards for dancers Members of Dance Elite's senior competitive company represent Milton well in two recent contests Milton's Dance Elîte Competitive Company has kicked off the competitive season witb a flurry of awards from recent coin- petitions. Tise senior company, under tbe direction of Mamnie Palmer, took home the cboreograpby award for the 'Drums on the Nile' modem dance. Cboreograpbed by Ms Palmer, it was performed by Katie DeCaire, Ashleigh Lewis, Sarah Hamilton, Jennifer Pender, Garion Sparks- Austin and Andrea Stockton. TMe top novice duet or trio award went to Addison Brasit and Atlana McLeod for the jazz duet 'Jump, Shout, Boogie'. The competitive team also eamned first, second and third-place awards as well as judges picks such as 'Great Potential, Technique and Style and Terrific Timing'. And Sarah Hamilton's lyrical solo 'Crucify' won ber a fiftb place finish in the contest's overail solo category. The contesta included the Rhythm Dance Competition in Hamilton and the CDTA Compétition. The Candiana Collection of Group of Seven Art Show and Sale is currently taking place at thé Harrop Art Gallery and Framing Warehouse. The show, which includes works by A.J.
