Over three days at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops, B.C., the third-year outside hitter played the best volleyball of his life. He led Queen's to victory twice, pacing the team in scoring in each of its three matches. Fautley averaged 4.1 kills and 4.6 points per game at nationals and earned a spot on the all-tournament team. After returning to Queen's, one by one players convened with coach Brenda Willis for year-end meetings. When Fautley walked into the coach's of ce, Willis looked at him and said, "You're not Iroquois Ridge High School graduate Bryan Fautley, a star volleyball player, decided to speak out about the homophobic comments that nearly chased him from his coming back, are you?" beloved game.
