Those who are interested in performing in the concert have a shot at getting on the stage. The Town is hosting auditions for the all-genre concert called Summer Tune Up, which will happen Thursday, June 13 at the Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre, located at 2302 Bridge Rd. The concert will run 7-10 p.m. Tune up for summer The auditions will be held on Thursday, May 23 and Thursday, May 30. Local musicians and bands are asked to try out. The Oakville Children's Choir recently held a concert for its male singing group A Few Good Men at St. Cuthbert's Anglican Church. Here, the choir thump out a percussion-only number with Boomwhackers and plastic cups at the show, which raised funds for the Lighthouse Program for Grieving Children. The show opens Wednesday, May 22, while the official opening is on Saturday, May 25, to coincide with the opening of Sovereign House to See Bronte through artist eyes the public for the 2013 season. Sean Reyes wins for best rock video at indie music awards in Hollywood Oakville singer/songwriter Sean Reyes picked up the Best Rock Video of the Year award at the 2013 Indie Music Channel Awards held in Los Angeles. The awards were held late last month. The local musician won the award for his music video Just Another. "It is always an honour just to be nominated for the IMC Awards, but to win is even sweeter," Ryes said, in a news release. The musician had a difficult journey leading up to this award win. In 2009, he was attacked by a stranger while he was out celebrating his birthday with friends. He was rushed to hospital and his family was told by doctors he might not survive the night. Since the beating, he has undergone nine brain and head surgeries. "It has been a long, hard road, very long and very hard. But I feel that I have been blessed with a second chance at life for a reason ­ to share my message and my music," he said.
