The North York Symphony, which Mr. Stratton has directed since 1988, is now the Toronto Philharmonia, a naine that he said suits the growing excellence of a dynamie orchestra committed to great music. "These years with this orchestra have been so rewarding to me artistically," he said. "I am privileged to conduct such a great orchestra." Mr. Stratton, who bas performed in Milton for the past seven years, will return to, town for Milton Concert Presentations' I4th Nocturne Series of five concerts. Milton Alliance Church, where the con- certs are held, "provides great acousties and an intimate atmosphere," Mr. Stratton said. "The orchestra and I love coming to Milton to, perform." Tise season opener October 22, 'Ride to the Rescue' with the Toronto Philharmonia is inspired by horse and rider throughout history. The program includes Rossini's William Tell Overture, Von Suppe's Light Cavalry, Cowell's Post Horn Gallop, Franch's Le Chausseur Maudit and Haydn's Horn Signal Symphony. On November 19, featured performers are the Great Lakes Guitar Duo - Thachuck and Meyer - who're retuming by popular request to charmn and delight with the sweet sounds of two guitars bringing romance fromn around the world. The first concert of the year 2000, on January 21, is entitled Mozart in Prague.
