With sorrow, the family reports the peaceful passing of John Ormiston Bradley at Bennett Health Care Centre in Georgetown on Sunday, May 12, 2013 in the arms of his family. John is survived by his beloved wife of sixty-five years, Emma (Lou), daughters Anne Bradley, Cheryl Bradley (Lorne Fitch) and Karen Bonham (Bob), grandchildren Jonathan Higginbottom (Karen), Linzy and Philip Bonham and greatgranddaughters Hannah and Emma Higginbottom. Also sisters Marion Robertson, Wilma Ellis (Roy), Irene Saunders, Alma Bradley and Phyllis Belford (Peter), as well as relatives of a large extended family and many, many dear friends. John was predeceased by his parents Howard and Mary Bradley, brothers Norman (infant), Bill, Roy and sister Edna Fortner. Predeceased (1997) by his beloved wife of fifty-four years, Margaret (Goodrick). Dear father of Carolyn Sciberras (Charlie), John Lysnes (Cathy) and Barbara Lysnes (Steve Mantis). Proud grandfather of Sheri, Mark, Simon, Claire, Victoria, Sabina, Sage, Juan, Nikos and Theo. Great grandfather of twelve wonderful children. Predeceased by his parents (John and Alma Lysnes from Norway) and his sisters and brothers and sisters (Rachael, Bill, Helen and Sterling). At 98, Bruce lived the longest in the Lysnes family. Born and raised in Fort William, Ontario. Served in the Second World War as an aircraft mechanic. Machinist and millwright for Domtar Newsprint in Red Rock for over 34 years. Dad was very clever and creative with all things mechanical and enterprising, including his many unique inventions and his infamous skate sharpening business in Red Rock. Bruce was a lifetime conservationist and naturalist. Life member of the Red Rock and Orillia Fish & Game Clubs. Member of St. Paul's United Church. Community volunteer with the Boy Scouts, Girl Guides, Bayou Park Ratepayers Assoc., Red Rock Community Centre and Stewart Lake Campers Assoc. Hobbies included gardening, speed skating, cross country skiing and bicycling well into his nineties. Mom and Dad enjoyed a long and successful retirement in Orillia and Florida as well as many journeys across North America. Dad spent his last years at Post Inn Village, Oakville where he made many friends. Bruce was a kind, gentle and considerate man who expressed his thoughts and concerns in a delightful way and loved his family dearly. Now at peace and in our hearts and memories forever.
