A draft report focusing on the agnicultural lands in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) raised the ire of some counicillors, who weren't shy about relaying their feelings to the GTSB. "We have grave concemrs that the GTSB is sticking its nose in where it should flot," said Councillor Lieven Gevaert. "Basically, we're saying to thse GTSB, 'keep your nose out of business where you're flot wanted.' " The Vision for the Countryside report was drawn up by the Greater Toronto Coordinating Committee (GTCC). The GTCC is ruade up of the chief administrative officers of GTA municipalities. But no Milton representative was on the committee, Town staff noted. And it isn't clear how the report will be used, said the Town's coordinator of planning policy, Bill Mann. "No one seems to know where this report is going and what it will be used for," he said. A suggestion by the GTCC that the report be used for advisory purposes by thse GTSB set off warning belîs among Town staff. In response, they passed a recommendation noting that Milton is vehemently opposed to the report's across-the-board designa- tion of the community aa rural.
