To catch even more of aur artists you should visit Springridge Farm (on Bell Sehool Lino just north of Derry Road). The exhibit is tiled "Art on the Escarpment" and is running Saturday, May 29 and Sunday, May 30. The show opens at 9 arn and closes at 5 pm. The artists featured in this col- umn will be part of a jury panel for the Milton Rotary Celebration of the Arts scheduled for the Thanks- giving weekend October 8 to October 10. The artists are Maureen Casteller, Rosemary Simpson and Brigitte Schreyer. FOR THE LOVE 0F ART Maureen Casteller is a very active artist wha will be coordi- nating artists and artisans for the Thanksgiving Festival. Encaur- aged by bath her grandparents she entered Loyalist Coilege. After graduation she became a successful commercial artist while pursuing her art education in Toronto. Marriage brought her to, Milton and she continued ta pursue her arts educatian by studying water calours and acrylics at Sheridan College in Oakville. Since then, Maureen has won several awards and is invited yearly ta show her wark at the Hummingbird Centre. Her wark is hung in many private collections. In an effort ta share her love of the arts. Maureen conducts art lessons for bath children and aduits in her studio in Milton. She is an active member of several arts associations including the Fine Arts Society of Milton and an assaciate membership in the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, D.C. Brigitte Schreyer is a member of the jury panel for thse Thanksgiving Festival and was inspired ta paint by her father wha was a very successful land- scape artist. She activey started painting when she maved ta Ontario in 1972. Since then her work has been featured in many art exhibitions and has received many awards. Her points are hung in major collections including Crawn Life Insurance Co-, Pitney Bowes Ca. and Magna International. Rosemary Simpson warks in ail mediums and neyer finds that there is a shortage of material. She received her arts educatian at York University and through art workshops. She was chosen Voluntter of the Vear by the Pastel Association of Ontario ta, be awarded this year.
