"We migbt be able ta do samething by 2000 if we put our heads together and stars early enough," said Dariene Wasilkowsky, general manager of the Milton Downtown Business Impravement Ares (DBIA). The DRIA attempted ta take over the previously Town-run camnival this year, but its limited budget curtailed the plan, Ms Wasilkowsky said. Last year the Tawn bawed aut af running the event and instead encauraged cammunity graups ta take aver the helm. The Tawn bas similarly relinquished cantrol aver the Milton Santa Claus Parade and local Canada Day celebratians, althaugb municipal govemn- ment stili beips substantiaiiy with funding.
