As a result they've reaped rewards in both tourna- ment play and early post-season contesta. Three straight wins gave thein the Beaverton Toumnament titie. The Lafarge Winterhawks capped their championship run with a 2-1 victory over Tamworth. Depositing the goals were Mark McLeod and Daniel Wetaelaar. Milton doubled Newmarket 4-2 and annihiiated West Hill 16-2 en route to the finals. Aaron Clarke and Craig Patserson split the netmind- ing duties and looked great in registering a 1.67 goals- againat average for the weekend showcase. This undefeated stretch paved the way for back-to- back triumphs in Tri County playoff action. They began by toppling the Acton Sabres 6-0. Clarke earned the goose egg between the pipes whiie his teammates demonstrated terrific passing and good hustie. Tallying twice were McLeod and Kenny Hume, with singles contributed by Lee Frittenburg and Brett Taylor. From there the Georgetown Raiders provided much stiffer competition but ended up on the short end of the stick as well in a 6-3 decision. McLeod led offensiveiy with a hat-trick and Clarke worked the cage. Milton's other snipers were Frittenburg, Nick Cashmore and Johnny Labelia. 'Hawks rally Milton's A minor peewees stole victory out of defeat's tightly clenched fiat Saturday at Memorial Arena, staging a dramatic turnaround in their Tri County playoff opener. 'Me Winterhawks looked sluggish early but eventu- ally gained momenturo and engineered a 3-2 corne- back win over the Acton Sabres, who had toppled thero on three previous occasions and jumped out to a two-goal lead this time. Noie Coutrouzas anchored the rally, assisting on goals one and three while drawing an opponent into the penalty box, which set the stage for a powerplay equalizer. Bagging the game winner in the final frame was Steve Ellison. Sam Tomlinson connected on a low wrister to kick start the offence and Jake Madansky followed up by burying a doorstep rebound. Single helpers went to Dan Christo and Kyle Scott. The Action Trailers sponsored team was outshot 15- 1 in the first period, during which time they surren- deoed both markers. Goaltender Mike Sanders did a great job of keeping the locals within striking distance early on and was just as sharp down the stretch when his teammates began picking up the play.
