Bell is new Oakville commissioner as Bloomer retires The Town of Oakville announced Tuesday Colleen Bell of the City of Guelph will be the Town's new commissioner of Community Services starting June 3. Bell was selected following a comprehensive search and evaluation of candidates. "Colleen's strong background leading significant community and corporate projects, as well as her excellent track record managing the complexities and demands of large departments made her an excellent choice to lead this commission," said Ray Green, Town CEO. "I am confident she will make a wonderful addition to our executive management team and she'll do a great job managing priorities and delivering quality services to our community." Bell's responsibilities at the Town will include overseeing the largest commission that brings together all of the major services that impact the daily life of Oakville residents including: Oakville Transit, Roads and Works Operations, Fire Services, Recreation and Culture, Parks and Open Space, and Libraries. Bell's past work experience includes time spent with Metro Toronto, the City of Toronto, Metrolinx, and the City of Guelph where she served most recently as executive director of Community and Social Services. Bell takes over the commissioner role from Dave Bloomer who is retiring after 34 years with the Town of Oakville. Bloomer's last day in office is May 17. 15 | Thursday, May 2, 2013 | OAKVILLE BEAVER | www.insideHALTON.com This week at BEd in Adult Education Information Session followed by Q and A: BEd in Adult Education The degree you've always wanted -- your way In cooperation with Sheridan College, Brock University offers BEd in Adult Education degree and certificate programs.
