Draw up an escape plan, firefighters stress next week The Canadian Champion, Fniday, October 2, 1998 - 9 The great escape will be teatured during Fire Prevention Week. The theme of this year's special week from October 4 10 10 is 'Pire Drills - The Great Escape'. -We are encouraging citizena 10 develop and practice an escape plan with their families," said Milton Fire Department spokesman Captain Mark Cross. But the big day will be Saurday, Oct. 10, when the station will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The day will feature a hands-on rire extinguisher demonstration at 10:30 a.m., when the public will have an opportunity to use an extinguisher on a controlled tire. At noon, the High Angle Rescue Team will perform a demon- stration. From noon to 1 p.m., a barbecue will be held with hot dogs and pop for everyone. At 1:30 p.m., an auto extraction demonstration will take place using the 'Jaws of Life'. And numerous brochures and pamphlets will be available regarding tire safety.
