Jeremy Wenzel was between the pipes. Matching Eby's opening niglit perfor- mance, O'Flaherty banked a goal and four assists to lift his season point total to seven. Canrigan led the way with first and third period goals while Bannan, Eby, Nathan Gillies and newly acquired defenceman Dave Csurmik also lit the lamp. Jason Hotchkiss tallied twice for Oshawa, with singles going to Kyle Adams, Tom Kirton and Rod Martin. Closing things out for the Legionnaires Sunday was Mike Shanab, Milton' s third- string goalie through the early part of the pre-season. Merchant notes: Milton's home opener drew a surprisingly small crowd. A larger fan base is expected this Friday when they unveil their Ail-Ontario championship banner and host their arch rivais, the Oakville Blades ... The Merchants are in Streetsville tonight. He makes it look easy Niagara-on-the-Lake was the latest stop on the Harry Barnes' victory tour Saturday. The high endurance Campbellville run- ner tamed the 4-kilometre mun, 30-Iiome- tre bike, 4-kilometre run duathlon in 1:05:53 and easily beat aIl of his 50-54 year old maIe opponents. Barnes, who lias already locked up another season points titie on the President' s Choice Triathlon/Duathlon Series, was less than five minutes back of the overaîl men's winner and actually eclipsed top female Marci Aitken - who' s coming off a world championship triumph in Germany. "It was hot and humid during the race, just like 1 like it," said Bamnes, who has virtually no body fat. "While everyone else is sweating, I'm just cooking right along." Barres has now won four duathlons this year plus a dozen triathlons. 2.» rm Mar4 Ktemtu tRffers rapr 2.1M Mari7 Guolpi rno 2-.Wm 6:30err Mar14 Mussisajg b Dos 2.14M 7:30prm Mar 19 Ptrolhwhatrs 7-.3tjo JIU Golf PTip for AK~ the Week During tht pre-shot routine there are many checks that a golfer must do. Watch any Professional player and tht first thing they do, after selecting a club, is stand behind the baIl. Why are S they there? Why should you be there? They are there to pick an intermediary target. It should be about a foot from the baIl, well within visual range once Hit it down set-up over the bail. It could be a tee, the tracks îwg, or tuft of grass. My most popular choîce is a tuft of grass. In this case, I have chosen the a tuft of grass and the imaginary line (one foot long) between the tuft and the bail is the target line. Now that I amn over the baIl, I will align myself in this order; rny club face, shoulders, knees and feet parallel to the target line. Remember the line fromn your body aligniment and the bail flight line will be just like railroad tracks., they will neyer meet or neyer stray from each other. By being this methodical you will be mentally confident in your pre- shot routine. You are now set and ready to pull the trig- ger to hit the bail down the tracks. DrilI: It is tht curvature of tht eyes that deceives us. We have to continually check our target alignment because of Visual Parallax. To check, place a club in both hands across your shoulders, hips and thighs making sure you are parallel to your ont-foot target line. Then place tht club at the tip of your tots and step back behind tht bail. Is tht club parallel to tht target? Is it facing just left of tht target (which may or may not be the flag)? If so, great! If not, try again! Thats why we sec the tour players stand behind tht bail before they set up to tht bail. Happy one-putts! Submitted by Troy A.
