The Canadien Champion, Tuesday, July 7, 1998-7 SO UR READERS WRITE What's the scoop on expam. Dear Editor: On 12 May you published a letter by Bob Burchett asking a simple question: -How will (Milton's) expansion make my family's lite... better than it is now?" Now this really got me excited. You are a local newspaper and someone has asked you a question. A question, what is more, doubt- Iess on everyone's lips over the past few weeks. 1 have been on the edge of my seat, expecting a pull-out supplement full of charts and statistics, using ail your journal- istic and research talent to answer Mr Burchett's question and inform the people of Milton. Some dogs just menaces Dear Editor: I've lost count of the number of vicious attacks by pithulîs, bull mastiffs and rot- tweillers. I would say 'enough is enough' .wouldn't you? If the owners of these animais did these attacks, they would no doubt do ime for attempted murder, or even murder. But these people can laugh and sleep well at night, because they are off the hook! I say this has got Io come to an end real fast! Oh, they say, "My dog is so ftnendly, 50 nice, 50 lovable ... he'd neyer hurt any- one. But I think Paul Bernardo and Karla Homolka's mothers would have said the same thing about them. The point is, I believe, these dogs are psychopathic. and cannot be rusted. lin beginning to think the same about anyone who would own one. l've bad dogs inost of ny lice, and I love animais as much as anyone, and amn a miember of several animal wellare organizatlons. I have also played witb lions and tigers as kittens but 1 respect thcrn. and I would not want one in my neigbbours back yard. I believe dogs tIsaI repealedly mnake these attacks should bc outlawed froin town and city limits. But I wouldn't want them in the country eîther, and nither would any normal farmer, so I îhink they sbould not be allowed outside steel barred cages. Better yet, put a bounty on them and declare open season. Imagine, then my disappointment in reading the front page of your Friday 26 June issue: Shovels could be in the ground as early as next spring. I cannot possibly imagine that something of such great moment could have passed me by. Obviously, in the face of the weightiest arguments by the great munici- pal minds of the area, Mr. Burchett's ques- tion has been answered, and we are aIl sat- isfied that the right tl I'm really upset pull-out supplemeni of a copy'> Or faili imagine they sold1 quite likely you ha% my benefit, not tc Burchett: just how my family? ->îon,, reader asks Fa ing is being done.
