I The Canadian Champion, Irueiday, April 21, 1998 -7 OUR READERS WRITE Ail that 'administratium' impedes common sense Dear Editor: Needless to say, the Milton Ratepayers Association was somewhat disappointed with Milton council's inability to come to terms with the new political realities of less govemment. Local tribologists at great expense believe a concentration of a new element exists in the area of Victoria Park which we have tentatively named 'administratium'. This would rank as one of the heaviest elements known to man having no protons or electrons and thus an atomic num- It's to each his own, now, on religion Dear Editor: After reading Ken Campbell's rambling letter in a recent Champion, I am moved to ask some questions of my own. If he is correct in saying that "education never happens without someone's religion being taught", why cannot the basis of all worid religions be taught, instead of just the one he seems to support? Do we really have to choose one over the other and how do we really know which, if any, is the real truth? Why does Rev. Campbell resort to infantile name calling when describing those who challenge the "theistic" princi- ples he and (unbeknownst to me) the "overwhelming majority of Canadians" purportedly believe in? Are atheists any different than you or I? Are they not entitled to their own beliefs, as is Mr. Campbell? Should society fear them? Does he use the name "Marx" for anything other than pure shock value and its association with communism? Ideologies aside, are Marxists any dif- ferent than the rest of us'? Is he also assert- ing that our public schools are rife with Madonnas (tramps) and children with no morals? Are public school children any different than other children? Should they be feared as well? The most "dogmatic assertions" I have ever heard have come from Rev. Campbell himself. Calling another person with an opposing belief system "a mental- ly disturbed soul" with "irrational ranti- ngs" only reaffirms how narrow minded he is. How else can you explain a person who has already evaluated another man's soul on (apparently) Christ's behalf? No one, certainly not 1, is denying Rev. Campbell the right to fervently hold on to his own system of beliefs. What I, and I believe the majority of Canadians, are against, is the continual incessant shoving- down-our-throats of the views of flamboy- ant showmen such as Rev. Campbell. To each his own.
