-234 McCart repeats to win his second gold John McCart put the huishiung touches on a drcam season last weckend at the University of Alberta. Stringing together three authoritative wins, the E.C. Drury heavyweight wrestler pulled off a gold medal repeat at the Canadian Cadet/Juvenile Championships. McCart's national cadet triumph capped a season peppered with success. His 1997/98 resume tfeatures 13 medals, a fifth-place showing at OFSAA, an Ontario Winter Games championship and a remarkable 41-5 overail record. He scored three quick takedowns in Saturday's title match to beat Ontario sil- ver medalist Adam Moffat 10-0. Before this he pinned New Brunswick's Jean-Francois Roy - after trailing 5-2 early on - and humbled Banry Rîckett of Alberta 10-O. McCart captured il gold medals this season, which establishes a new Drury record. A cadet champ in 1997 and OFSAA medalist last month, Kevin Heffron made a successful jump to the juvenile division and tinished fourth. He was inally edged out of a medal hy two-time OFSAA champion Don Kozmonov of Toronto, who came out on top in a 4-2 squeaker. Heffron won three of four matches lead- ing up to his bronze-medal loss, beating opponents from Alberta, Quehec and Saskatchewan. Drury sophomores Andy Wadeson and Rory McDonell enjoyed successful debuts last weekend - each placing sixth. Wadeson won his first two bouts over grapplers from Alberta and British Columbia before falling 7-4 in the semifi- naIs to eventual champ Greg Werbowski ot Maiitoba. He then moved on to the consolation bracket where he eventually took sixth. McDonell - Drury least seasoned rep- resentative - had a career performance in the toumnament's biggest weight class. He won five of seven matches. Falling victim to his technically sound mat work were opponents from Alberta, Ontario and Saskatchewan. Helping complete Drury's best-ever national showing were Chad Merritt and Justin Billingham.
