The 39-year-old manager of Super Choice Country Market on Derry Road had jusi lefi work and was driving casi- bound on Derry Road when he was hit from behind near Trafalgar Road ai 9:20 p.m. He pulled onto the shoulder 10 sort oui the collision and went 10 talk 10 the driver who had slightly bumped the rear of his car. However, three occupants of the other vehicle grahhed the manager and forced him into their car, Ilalton Regional Police said. They returned him to work and made him open the store, said Halton police spokesman Sgt. Frank Philtips. Inside, they forced the manager 10 unlock the safe and the culprits removed an undisclosed amount of money. In the process of tying the manager up, the trio got nervous when they saw a patrolling police car pans by the store, said Det. Sgt. Ron Welsh. They quickly put a rope around the vic- tim's neck, locked him in a walk-in freezer and fled. Luckily, the manager found a way to free himself and immediately called police, Sgt. Phillips said. The culprits told the victimi they were armed, but no weapon was produced, Det. Sgt. Welsh said. The manager recognized one of the cul- prits as being a former employee,of the store, he said.
