READY, AY~ R~' - ---- --------·- - - - - - - - - THE SCOTT ACT. Complete Official Returns. 'l'he STATE.Sl\UN is the first journal in West Durham to give the complete retu rn~ of the vote on th e Scott Act on A pril 4. To the credit of West Durham be it said, it is the only riding in the United ·Counties that ~ave a majority for the Act, and Darlington is the only municipality that gave a majority at every polling place, exce[Jting one tie, fer the Act. We feel proud of W eat Durham. This vote as well as the vote in 1885 shows plainly that the tempera.nee sentimti nt here is stronger th~n in the other ridings, hence the Act should have been much. better enforced than it was_ WEST DURHAM.
