For Stoney Creek's Bridgette Walker, 26, who is deaf and autistic, hunting for employment was an exercise in frustration until she found one business in Oakville willing to give her a chance. Oakville's Wag-a-Way Kennels, located at 2136 Trafalgar Rd., not only gave Walker work, but gave her an opportunity to pursue her dream of becoming an Olympic champion. Walker made good use of both these chances. In February, Walker participated in the Special Olympic World Winter Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea and brought home, not one, but two bronze medals in the Giant Slalom and Super-G categories, and a fourth place ribbon in the slalom category.
