I was fresh out of Journalism school when I wrote this article for the Milton Weekly Tribune. I had been hired to write as a general Reporter. I literally stood on the doorstep until they hired me. I remember working on this, and getting really good reviews especially from the Editor and the Publisher of the Milton Champion. This paper shortly after went into receivership. The economy was in terrible shape and we were right in the middle of a recession.
It was my first full page spread for the paper, and the last and of course full of more then a little scandal. I was nominated in the National Newspaper Awards for Best Feature for this story and for a series of ghastly ghost stories. I was 20 years old. I was let go soon after. Something to do with me revealing to a very well known artist and her husband that the paper was "not as it used to be". Publisher got wind of it and that was the end of my reporting and for the paper. The story spoke for itself, and it was a good story, and a building block to growing, and developing my writing skills, and talent into what they are today.. By the way the Publisher still owes me a bottle of Champagne that he stole from me at New Years
