Notes

Stanley James Strowger opened a furniture store in the McMillian Block in 1941 and renovated the store in the summer of 1946. He also owned a funeral home at 215 Dundas Street East. Standing in front of the furniture store, left to right, are: William Ashbury (Refrigeration Service), Stanley James Strowger (President), Mrs. M. Vernon (Assistant), K.A. Gandaue (Secretary-Treasurer), R. Willett (Service Man), William Zaleschook (Assistant Funeral Director), S.D. Strowger (Manager). This picture was printed in the Times-Gazette on August 21, 1946 to announce the opening of the renovated store.
