The Halton District School Board is looking for community feedback on the staff-created options for future French as a Second Language (FSL) programming in its elementary schools. The school board said this information is of significant interest for parents of elementary students in both the English and French programs, as the two programs co-exist in local schools and have a direct impact on each other. Parents are also invited to attend information nights taking place in the coming weeks. The information evenings offer parents the opportunity to discuss options with board staff. Area residents have a chance to remember their loved ones at a community event in Oakville Friday, May 10. The Lighthouse Program for Grieving Children is hosting its second annual memorial hour in town, called the Memorial Lantern Night. The event is put on in collaboration with Remember our Love. The gathering is a peaceful and quiet hour by the lake at Gairloch Gardens, 1306 Lakeshore Rd. E., where people can take a moment to remember and reflect. The event is open to anyone. Last year, 200 people attended.
