It was with very deep regret that the citizens of this district learned through these columns last Thursday of the demise in St. Peter's Infirmary, Hamilton, of Mrs. Hugh C. Kelson, for over half a century one of our finest and most beloved residents. The deceased lady was born in Burghfield, England, Susan Brown Keep, 77 years old, and came to Canada with other members of her family 51 year ago, settling in the Winona district. It was there that she met and married the late Hugh C. Kelson, who predeceased in 1928...She left Grimsby a year ago to reside at St. Peter's and was very happy there up until Friday, May 17th, when she suffered a seizure from which she never recovered, going Home to her Lord on Wednesday, May 22nd. Surviving are one daughter, Ann of New York City; two sons, Hugh M. of Dundas and Gerald of Free Press-Herald staff, Midland; one brother Nigel Keep, San Simcon, Cal. Remains rested at the Stonehouse Funeral Home until Saturday afternoon when services were conducted by Rev. E.A. Brooks, assisted by Rev, Raymond Andrewes. Interment was in St. Andrew's graveyard. Casket bearers were Gordon Carpenter, Allen Nelles, Willison Nelles, G.E. Heathcote, Earl Swayze, Robert O. Smith.
