A10 - THE INTELLIGENCER, September 22,1995, FACE OFF 95-96 HARKIE SINGH, rookie defence, No. 4 LARRY PALECZNY, second year centre, No. 20. .DAVID PECA, rookie right winger, No. 9 Veteran broadcaster picks Bulls for third in East Here are CJBQ Sports Director Jack Miller's prognostications on the 1995-96 season. EAST DIVISION Oshawa -- The Generals are basically intact from last year's second place team. Their only concern is goaltending, however, they have enough depth to trade for what they need. Ottawa -- This team is better than a lot of people think, particularly if Sergei Samsonov joins Miller them. Excellent goaltending. Belleville -- A lot hinges on the return of Richard Park. If he's back the Bulls could move up a notch. Kingston -- Outstanding group of rookies will help soften the blow of losing some top notch veterans. If Chad Kilger returns for Anaheim, the Frontenacs will contend. Peterborough -- Huge defence, but not a lot of offence. North Bay -- Excellent goaltending. They have to rebuild up front. CENTRAL DIVISION Guelph -- Plenty of depth to make up for the loss of Jeff O'Neill and Todd Bertuzzi. Duane Hay will star this year. Niagara Falls -- Good returning cast from last year. Sudbury -- Solid in goal with David McDonald. Will have to rebuild offence. Kitchener -- Good goaltending. Will finish fourth by default. Barrie -- Three overage players and high draft picks could make the Colts a competitive expansion team. Don't underestimate the Bert Templeton factor. Owen Sound -- Unproven in goal and up front. Will be in bigger trouble if Wayne Primeau doesn't return from Buffalo. WEST DIVISION Detroit -- Four of top six forwards are back. Top NHL pick Bryan Berard is joined by Dan Preston on the power play. Sarnia -- A solid young nucleus returns from last season. Should be strong on defence. Windsor -- Have some offence to replace, but should be strong defensively. Sault Ste. Marie -- Can't possibly give up as many goals as they did last season. London -- Only two of eight top scorers returning from a low scoring team. Unproven goaltending. LIT Follow the Bulls live on the air agp*.-**i TM Again this season CJBQ 800 will broadcast all 33 of the Belleville Bulls road games. As well, Cablevue 4 will televise one game per week on a" tape delayed basis. Sports director Jack Miller will handle the play-by-play duties on both radio and television broadcasts. He'll be joined in the booth by The Intelligencer's Tom Gavey and Paul Svoboda. Todd Smith of CJBQ is also expected to handle some play-by-play duty, especially on television. All radio broadcasts will begin 15 minutes prior to game time. 'This year three early Bulls games conflict with the Toronto Blue Jays and Miller says the Jays will be broadcast on CJTN Radio while the Bulls take over CJBQ those nights. , The "rule of thumb" for TV games (21 will be shown) is that Wednesday games are shown on Thursday nights on Channel 4 and if there is no mid-week game the Saturday contest is taped and shown Sunday night. Producer Bill Freestone says this year the broadcasts will feature slow motion replays, a first in the 15 years Cablevue has been showing the games. Belleville will also host Global TV's first broadcast of the season on Jan. 13 when the Guelph Platers visit the Quinte Sports Centre. Miller will again be the playby-play voice for Global.
