Key games for Blades this weekend Continued from page 18 19 · Wednesday, January 30, 2013 OAKVILLE BEAVER · www.insideHALTON.com The Buffalo Jr. Sabres continue to lead the South West Conference with 70 points, but have also played five more games than the Blades. Oakville will play three of its 12 remaining games this weekend, two of them against teams it is trying to overtake in the standings. The Blades will host North York Friday at Sixteen Mile (7:30 p.m. start) before visiting the Milton IceHawks Saturday and the St. Michael's Buzzers Sunday. St. Michael's is currently second in the South, four points ahead of the Blades but with just nine games remaining on its schedule. Under the OJHL playoff format, division winners earn the top two seeds in the conference. The rest of the conference is seeded by total points earned, regardless of division, with the top six teams earning the remaining playoff spots. NOTES: Patrick Chore (three goals, two assists) and Jonah Renouf (two goals, three assists) each had five points for Oakville against the Red Wings, who suffered their league-high 45th loss of the season. Luke Laidlaw and Spencer Green had Oakville's other goals, with Nathan Renouf recording three helpers and Aidan Orbinski contributing two. Spencer Bacon made 24 stops to earn the victory in net... Jonah Renouf remains within striking distance of the league scoring title. Renouf (26 goals, 52 assists) sits eight points behind Buffalo's Tyler Gjurich for top spot, but has 12 games remaining while Gjurich has just seven... Oakville continues to lead the OJHL in fewest goals against (107), four less than Newmarket and Trenton. Newmarket has played two more games than the Blades and Trenton has played three more. www.oakvillebeaver.com SATURDAY FEBRUARY 9 IS HOCKEY DAY IN OAKVILLE!
