After a brief stay, Pero passed away at Oakville Trafalgar Hospital on Monday January 21, 2013. Reunited with his loving wife Josipa who passed away 20 years ago. Pero had tremendous love for his entire family and will be sadly missed by his devoted daughter Vladimira (Zahariev) and his granddaughters Andrea (Andrew Keyes) and Marian (Steve Thorpe). Deeply missed by his cherished great-grandchildren Ashley, Ryan, Maya and Tyler, he always had special treats for them whenever he saw them. Missed by all of his friends and family both here in Canada and back home in Croatia. WATTS, Ronald Francis of Oakville since 1971 August 21, 1918 (Calgary) - January 16, 2013 (Edmonton) ... after a brief illness. Only son of Avis (Greer) and Inspector (RCMP) AFC (Frank) Watts, grew up in Vancouver and Edmonton. After a brief time at sea (RCM Police Ship Macdonald out of Halifax, he returned to Edmonton to joined Macdonald Baptist Church and made the decision to enter Christian ministry. Attended St. Stephen's College, University of Alberta, for BA degree and first year of theological studies. Married Fanshun Taddy of Edmonton, moved to Hamilton, Ontario to complete BD degree at McMaster University, while Fanshun worked in the University Library. In 1944 accepted call to Calvary Baptist Church, Weyburn, Saskatchewan before moving to Calgary, Alberta, to found and lead the Baptist Leadership Training School from 1949-71. Three sons: David, born in Weyburn, and Jonathan and Peter, born in Calgary. McMaster Divinity College conferred an honorary Doctorate of Divinity (DD) degree on Ronald Watts in recognition of the work at BLTS. In the early 1970's Ron completed a further earned degree MEd in Educational Psychology from the University of Oregon Moved to Ontario to become General Secretary of the Baptist Convention of Ontario and Quebec 1972-84, living in Oakville, while Fanshun served as National Director of Canadian Girls in Training (CGIT). During this time he travelled in North and South America, Europe, Africa and Asia (India and China) with the Baptist denomination and the Canadian and World Councils of Churches. After retirement he became active in Amnesty International (AI) and served as a Vice President in Oakville for a time. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Central Baptist Church Oakville (340 Rebecca Street) where Ron has been Pastor Emeritus for many years.
