Peewee white Cameron Arnold's overtime goal lifted the Oakville Mustangs to a 3-2 victory over the Oakville Hawks in the peewee white final. Alex Haluk and Chris Tharby scored in regulation time for the Mustangs, with Cameron Marley, Tim Hawks, Alex Dickson and Tharby notching assists. Arnold's overtime heroics earned him the MVP award. Mike Zaaka and Evan Turgeon had the goals for the Hawks, assisted by Griffin Krunic, Callum Paterson and Jacob Kamerman. The Mustangs and Hawks each posted one-goal victories in the semifinals. Arnold also provided the winner in the Mustangs' 1-0 win over the Oakville Thunder, assisted by Malcolm Simmons. The Hawks got goals from Adewumi Aladetimi, Liam ThomsonHill and Drew Fearon in a 3-2 win over Port Credit. Kamerman, Paterson and Thomson-Hill recorded helpers. Also contributing to the Mustangs' championship effort were Michael Duch, Cameron Hayhoe, Owen Melhuish, Matthew Lawes, Evan Thompson, Max Reigate, Tim Hawkins, Marc Theriault, Tanner Litzgus and Dylan Lai. Grant Tharby, Tom Litzgus and Ken Melhuish are the team's coaches, John Lai is the trainer and David Dim is the manager. Peewee red The Oakville Senators fell just short of delivering the MOHA its third tournament champion, dropping a 3-1 decision to the Peterborough Petes in the peewee red final. Evan Cochrane scored in a losing cause for the Sens, assisted by Brett Jeffrey and Jesse Cipak. The Senators used goals by Jacob Rideout, Reese Sanders and R.J. McMahon to down the Oakville Devils 3-1 in the semis. Jack Swanson, Avery Millar-Maclean and Joshua Wadden had assists for the Sens. Connor Buchanan, assisted by Chris Sdao and Grayden Power, provided the soring for the Devils. Peterborough edged the Oakville Bruins 4-3 in the other semi. Matthew Murdock had two goals and Evan Spence added a single for the Bruins, with assists going to Alex Green and Kieran Morrison. Whitecaps ball teams seeking coaches The Oakville Little League's allstar and select Whitecaps program is currently accepting applications for the position of manager/head coach for each of its 11 squads. The Whitecaps all-star and select program is in addition to the OLL house league, featuring five district/provincial teams and six select teams that range in age level from 7-18. District teams participate in regional playdowns to represent Oakville at the provincial and potentially national levels, and all Whitecaps clubs play between three to six tournaments throughout the summer as well as a number of exhibition games. Ideal candidates for the manager/head coach positions would be people who have coached baseball for several years, have a good understanding of how Little League rules impact the game and how to manage within the required parameters, have successfully completed PCA coaching clinics or the equivalent, and have demonstrated the ability to instruct youth with an emphasis on sportsmanship, skill development and team play. Managers/head coaches must also be effective communicators, well organized, disciplined, honest and air, with conflict resolution and multi-tasking abilities. In order to be a manager/head coach of an all-star or select team, candidates must also coach at the house league level as either a head coach or assistant. All managers are required to pass security clearances. The deadline to apply for the allstar and select positions is Jan. 31. Interviews will be conducted in early February, and all applicants will be notified of the interview results prior to the announcement date of April 1.
