The Support & Housing -- Halton project, to be implemented over the next three years, will receive the largest grant at $212,000 for the Concurrent Disorders Peer Support Program. This is a confidential peer support group for individuals struggling with mental health challenges and substance use. Other Oakville groups that will be receiving Trillium grants include: · Intrada Brass The $29,100 grant will be used over one year to purchase professional percussion equipment and portable music stands for use by Halton area youths participating in this community brass band. The equipment will also be shared with the Halton Youth Symphony. · Joshua Creek Heritage Art Centre The $62,000 grant will be used over two years to hire part-time staff to support the growth and expansion of programs and usage of this arts and heritage facility in Oakville. Funding will also support development of a strategic plan to help the centre maximize its potential as a unique community asset. · Knox Presbyterian Church The $90,000 grant will be used over one year to make renovations, including the installation of an elevator lift, barrier-free washrooms, a new accessible entrance and parking spaces. The upgrades will make the facility more physically accessible and expand the community space available in Acton. · Minor Oaks Hockey Association Inc. The $21,700 grant will be used over one year to study the feasibility and impact of comprehensive improvements to the office and IT support systems of this Oakvillebased organization that serves 4,000 players and 1,000 volunteers. Development of a concussion database that has the potential to serve the needs of other minor hockey organizations will also be explored. · Reach Out Centre for Kids The $149,400 grant will be used over two years to improve quality of life for Halton families raising children or youth with mental illness by developing a formal family support program that will allow them to be more involved in decisions affecting their children. · United Way of Oakville The $123,100 grant will be used over two years to upgrade existing computer hardware and data management systems in order to enhance the organization's capacity to manage information, deliver services and communicate with stakeholders.
