GREENAWAY Free Press Staff Wîth each day getting cooler, bringing it more and more snow, enthusiastic winter sportster will soon be waxing their skis, by they cross-country or downhill, and hitting their favorite spot for a day of fun in the snow. Already ski resorts have begun making ready for the onslaught of the skiers. Along with 15 downhill siopes Dagmar have a num- ber of cross-county trails,- the shortest on being 2.5 km -~ and the Iongest 15 km, that intertwined in consentricai l00ps. On good days Martin said that a cross-county skier could ski close to 40 km using the various trails. Dagmar has 16 volunteer and two full time ski patrollers working the siopes during the season. "«On any given Saturday there are six patroilers 8-year-o1d assigned but there are ,ueof the probably ten skiing at one time," said Bill Esdale, the and gym-~ head of the Dagmar Ski Patrol. reenaway Each patroller must have completed a 12 week first aid course which Esdaie calis "probably one of the most extensive courses of that nature." Once the skier has com- pleted the course they wil be wel versed in the procedures surrounding generai first aid, artificial ,respiration and, some, car- dio-pulminary resusitation.
