From now until the begin- ning of the new year there will be a special unit roaming the streets 0f Whit- by, Oshawa and Newcastle looking for drunk drivers. The crackdown these of- fenders is being instituted in an effort by the police to reduce the number of motor vehicle fatalities and ac- cidents during the holiday season according to Police Chief Jon Jenkins.
