"I The meeting was opened at 8:20 p.mn. by President Valerie Hundert, who welcomed about 60 people including guests from Cam- bray, Ashburn, Whitby and Oshawa. Correspondence was read by the writer, followed by Margaret Davis with the treasurer's report and Carolyn Stevens who' ad- vised that there are now 155 members. The president then exten- ded her appreciation to the 12 members who, on Monday October 20, had untertaken the dlean-up job of the civic plantings. The bard working crew adjourned to the writer's home for lunch, af- ter which Rene Thiebaud in- structed the group in prunging evergreens. Joan Brak then introduced the speaker for the evening, Doris Marlow, who with the assistance of Marie Ferguson and her lovely candies, demonstrated how to make our homes attrac- tive for Christmas, by com- bining evergreens, candies and ribbon. Marlow is weIl known for her flower arrangements and her deftness in this art was well demonstrated. Ferguson showed many varieties of her candies and how to make them. Marlow then graciously donated ber crations to be used. as door prizes that eveni. Refreshments followed, served by Aldine, Wick and Diane Rothnle.
