Durham Regional Council memnber of councll at the age of 31, and ln seeking a second term on council. He is a lawyer practising in the downtown area and la married with two children. He aise, serves as the town's representative on the Down- town Improvement Area Board. JOHN GOODWIN 1Geodwin, a resident of the town for 35 years presently serves as the chairman of the Central Lake Ontario Conservation Authority. Between 1968 and 1975, he served on Whitby Town Coundil as a local councillor and deputy reeve and was one of the town's first reglonal counclllors. Geodwin, 47, resides on Parkview Blvd. and is an employee of General Motors. Centre Ward TOM EDWARDS This la, Edward's second try for a seat on Durham Regional Council having corne third in 1978. Edwar- ds, 54, bas served on Whitby Town Coundil from 1964 to 1978 as reeve and councilor and prior to running for the regi'on served four years as centre ward representative. The Euclid Street resident la, married with three children and is a national representative for the Canadian Union of Public Employees. GERRY EMM (Incumbent) Emm la booking for his fourth term as a member of Durliam Regional Council and his si.xth term as a member of Whitby Town Council te which lie was firat elected in 1970. Emm, 41, la a resident of Ashburn and la married with three children and prlor to becozning a full-tixne policitîam was an egg far- mer. ROBIN LYON This is Lyon's firat attem- pt to win elected office. He la 30Oyears old, married with three children, a resident of the town for seven years and is employed as a life in- surance agent. Lyon is president of the Athol Green Co-operative Homes as well as the 1980 president of the County Town Carmival Committee. He is also a past-presidént of the Whitby Optimist Club as well as being a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 112 and a director of the East Central Ontario Development Foundation. East Ward BILL LOVELOCK A resident of the town for 26 years, this is Lovelock's first bld for couneil. He la married with three children and la an employee of General Motors. He has been a fund raiser for the Canadian Cancer Society as welI as being in- volved in the Ontarlo Lacrosse Association and the Corridor Area Ratepayers Association. North Ward RENE THIEBAUD This la Thiebaud's second try to wln the North Ward seat on council. He ran in 1978 when he lost to the in- cumbent by 469 votes. A resident of Brooklin for the last 15 years, Thlebaud, 62, la the founder of Oshawa Garden Services, Ltd. and la retired. West Ward ANGlE L11TLEFIELD Llttlefield la aise a newcorner to the local political scene, also runnlng for the west ward seat for the first Urne. Uàttlefield, 33, la a teacher at Whtby's Henry Street High School, a resident of Gilbet Street, married with one child. Durham Board of Education IAN BROWN' LYNDA BUFFET ROSS BATTEN This is Batten's first try for the north ward seat. He 18 36 years old, married with three children and is an em- ployee of Bell Canada. A resident 0f Ashburn for 33 years, Batten is a past- president of the Brooklin -and District Kinsmen Club as well as being a member of the Independant Order of Oddfellows. For the last two years he has been a member of the Committee of Adjust- ment. A newcomer to the Whitby political scene, this is Buf- fet's first attempt to get elected to Whitby Town Coundil. She lias been a resident 0f Whitby for four years and owns ber own downtown business. Buffet, 29, la married and a member of the Whitby Chamber of Commerce. This is Brown's first try to win one of Whitby's two seats on the Durham Board of education. He lias been a resident of the town for two- and-a-half years and is em- ployed by the Scarborough Board of Education as a psychoeducational con- sultant. Brown, 33, lives on Lupin Drive, is married with two chiîdren and is a member of the -Parent Advisory Com- mittee of Whitby Senior Public and the Durham board's committee on criminal and anti-social behavior. MARIE BROOKS While this la Brooks' first crack at running for the cen- tre ward seat on coundil, she is no stranger to the political scene because her- late husband served on both Whitby Town Council and the Public Utilities Com- mission for 19 years. Brooks, 55, la director 0f Whitby Community Care as well as being a member of the board 0f directors 0f the Ajax-Whitby-Pickering Association for the Mentally Retarded. JOE BUGELLI (incumbent) JOE DRUMM (incumbent) Drumm la seeking lila third term as the east ward representative on council. Drumm, 50, lives on Rosedale Drive, la married and works for Dowty Equipment of Canda, Ltd. of Ajax. âmÊMMI, ', BOB CARSON (incumbent) Carson is seeking his thrid full terni on Whitby Town to wbidh lie was first elected in 1975. Carson, 39, resides on Baldwin Street in Brooklin wbere he also owns and operates lits own business. He la married with tliree Bugelli la seeklng re- election te a second term on council. He is vice-president and general manager of Golden Graphics in Toronto. Bugell, 33, lives on Fran- ces Street, la married with four children. He is also member of the Whitby Jaycees. BARRY EVANS (incumbent) JOHN BUCHANAN This la Buchanan's second try for the board, havlng lost te, retirlng trustees David Slmns and Jlm Speers in the 1976 election. Buchanana, 39, lives on Broadview Ave. and is married with three children.
