The District Heath Coundil recelved a report in June from consultants Peat Mar- wick and Company which recommended major changes in the deilvery of hospital services. Since that time the coundil's executive committee chaired by Ed- wards, from Whitby, has been meeting with each hospital board ,ta dlscuss their response to the report. One recommnendation in the report, that the Dr. J.O. Ruddy Hospital beacome the basis for the redeveloped Whtby. Psychiatric Hospital, bas already been turned down by Ontario Health Minister Dennis Timbreil. The Dr. J.O. Rud- dy Board la currently developlng a couter proposaI for a rehabilitation unit on its second floor ta meet the increased needs for chronic care and rehabiitation in the Oshawa/Whitby area.
