After taking a 5 - 3 first period lead the Rednien could not penetrate the Brampton defence. The loss ends the seasoin for the Redmen, having given Up the best of six series to Brampton 4 games to 2. Everyore was shocked at the turn of events the series eventually took. Brooklin finished first in regular season play while Brampton finished fourth. Mayor' s eup race roils underway Oshawa Centre will be the scene 0f the first Annual Mayor's Cup Roller Skating Race, on August 24, 1980. Motorcity Rollarena Manager, Dave Emerson says, "The event will offer events for skating en- thusiasts from age ten to an open-age category. " The race will cover laps of 1 / miles around the Oshawa Centre. Emerson says the event will attract as many as one thousand entries from St. Catherines to Kingston. "The race" according to Emerson "is to give skaters a chance to skate out-doors in a competitive event. " The event will include the celebrity one lap race, the Youth division Boys and Girls 10 and under (one full lap around the centre), boys and girls il, 12, 13, (3 full laps around the Centre), and also the Open division both men and women over 15 ( 8 full laps around the Centre). Anyone is eligible to enter, with registration fee at $1.00. If a person wishes to wear a shirt with advertisement, the fee will be $500. Registration forms may be picked up at the following locations: (1) CKAR Radio (2> Motorcity Rollarena (3) both Oshawa Burger Kings (4) Saints Roller Rink in Whitby and in the Oshawa Centre at (5> Collegiate Sports (6) Athleete's World (7) T-shirt Gallery and (8) Foot Locker.
