Dr. ROBERT THORNTON - GRADES8 GRADUATION It was standing room only at the annual Grade 8 Graduation exercises. The cbildren, who until Thursday, wore Jeans and sneakers, were transformed into young ladies and gentlemen to cominemorate the occasion. The evenlng was truly an over- whelmnlng success. Graduation pictures were taken and awards and prizes presented. Followlng the formai ceremnonies, the young adults enjoyed an evening dance. Gord Petrie, a former Thornton student, provided the music. Durhlng the dancing a nutrltlous fruit tray was available for snacking and following the festivities, the dancers enjoyed a lunch of subs. The grounds and facilities of the Community Centre wil be available this summer for 54 hours per week. A junior program for ages 2-6 years, including ac- tivities such as crafts, creative play, stories, ex- ploring, sand & water play, dance, songs, and excur- sions will be held Monday, Wednesday, and Friday froml10a.m.-2 p.m. An intermediate programn for ages 6-13 year's, in- cluding crafts, creative play, music, exploring, ex- cursions and sporting ac- tivities will be held Monday through Friday 1 p.m.-4p.m. Teen activîties will in- clude games, music, spor- ting activities, (-and excur- sions and ýwill bW held Wed- nesday 6-9 P*.m. According to co-owner Derek Pearce, the service responded to 38 routine cails, 41 standby caîls for other 'ambulance services ln Ajax and Oshawa as well as to 31 emergency caîls.
